This 40s/50s sheath dress is so elegant, making clever use of design details like lace, buttoned tabs, and peplum! The bodice is fitted with darts, and the skirt is long and lean. There is a faux peplum, present only in the front, where it creates the suggestion that this is a two piece outfit rather than a dress. There are three horizontal decorative elements, each one consisting of a band of lace that ends at a curving tab which is anchored by a self fabric rimmed button. The skirt has an inverted kick pleat in back for ease in walking.

FABRIC/COLORS: Sunny yellow, medium eight, very slightly slubbed - fiber burn test is inconclusive - it feels like linen to my fingers, but it may be a wool blend. The cottony lace - Schiffli? is cream colored, but stitched onto the fabric in such a way that it adds another dimension to the look of the lace - see closeups of front and back.
